Air Fryer Hand-Cut Fries with Flaky Salt

These crispy air fryer fries are an easy side for burgers, bowls, or snack plates, with tender insides, crisp edges, and a finish of flaky sea salt and black pepper.

Instructions

  • Cut russet potatoes into classic fry shapes, then soak them in cold water for 15 to 20 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain well and pat completely dry with a clean towel.
  • Toss the fries with a small drizzle of oil and a pinch of salt, then spread them in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 380°F for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket a couple of times, until the fries are golden and crisp on the edges.
  • Finish with flaky sea salt and a little cracked black pepper. Serve hot with ketchup, vegan mayo, or your favorite dipping sauce for that real “fry night” feeling at home.

Notes

These are best enjoyed right away while they are hot and crisp, but leftovers can be reheated in the air fryer for a few minutes to bring them back to life. They work well alongside burgers, bowls, or as a snacky side when dinner feels undecided.
