Crispy Tofu Bowls with Sesame Glaze

These crispy tofu bowls are simple, satisfying, and easy to customize with whatever veggies and grains you have on hand.

Instructions

  • Press extra-firm tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes. Toss the cubes with cornstarch, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until they are lightly coated on all sides.
  • Arrange the tofu in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 380°F for 10 to 12 minutes, shaking the basket or turning the tofu halfway, until the cubes are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.
  • While the tofu cooks, whisk together soy sauce or tamari, rice vinegar, a drizzle of maple syrup, and a little toasted sesame oil to make a quick glaze. When the tofu is hot and crisp, toss it in the glaze until coated.
  • Serve over warm rice or quinoa with steamed or roasted veggies, then finish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

This bowl has that takeout-style feel while still being lighter and fully plant-based. It’s perfect for weeknights and easy to adjust based on whatever vegetables you already have in the fridge.
