Popcorn Tofu Nuggets with Dipping Sauces

Crispy air fryer popcorn tofu nuggets coated in a garlicky, smoky breadcrumb crust and served with a trio of easy dipping sauces for plant-based snacking, game days, or weeknight dinners.

Instructions

  • Press extra-firm tofu and tear it into small, nugget-sized pieces so you get lots of craggy edges that crisp up well.
  • In one bowl, whisk plant-based milk with a spoonful of cornstarch and a pinch of salt.
  • In another bowl, mix breadcrumbs with garlic powder, smoked paprika, and nutritional yeast.
  • Dip each tofu piece into the wet mixture, then coat in the breadcrumb mixture. Arrange the nuggets in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  • Air fry at 380°F for 10 to 12 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until the nuggets are crisp and golden on the outside.
  • Serve with a little sauce trio like barbecue sauce, spicy vegan mayo or sriracha mayo, and sweet chili or teriyaki sauce.

Notes

These nuggets are fun for movie nights, game days, or snacking straight from the basket while you decide what to make for dinner next. Leftovers can be reheated in the air fryer for a few minutes to bring back the crunch.
